About the Erectile Function Test
The erectile function test is one of the most commonly used methods to assess sexual dysfunction in men. This evaluation is typically conducted using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) questionnaire. Developed in 1997 by Dr. Raymond Rosen and his team, the IIEF is widely accepted in the scientific community. The questionnaire comprehensively evaluates male sexual function and helps identify potential issues.
Purpose of the Form
The IIEF questionnaire is designed to objectively measure a person’s condition in critical areas such as erectile function and sexual satisfaction. The questions aim to assess a patient’s ability to achieve and maintain an erection, their level of sexual satisfaction, and the effectiveness of various treatment methods.
The questionnaire focuses on five key areas:
1. Erection adequacy
2. Duration of maintaining an erection
3. Level of sexual satisfaction
4. Quality of orgasm
5. Overall sexual satisfaction
Classification of Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
Six specific questions from the questionnaire (questions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 15) are used to determine the severity of erectile dysfunction (ED). Responses to these questions are evaluated using a point-based system:
• “Not at all or almost never”: 1 point
• “Rarely”: 2 points
• “Sometimes”: 3 points
• “Most of the time”: 4 points
• “Always”: 5 points
The total score is used to classify the severity of erectile dysfunction:
Erectile Function Score - ED Classification
6-10 Severe ED
11-16 Moderate ED
17-25 Mild ED
26-30 No ED
